Are the Villages right for me?
If you are looking for a community that embraces learning and diversity, that encourages students to explore their interests and helps them to become better students and human beings, then the Villages are right for you.
What kinds of topics and interests are represented in Village programming?
The short answer to the questio
n is—ANYTHING
Village programming is intended to extend the learning experience outside the classroom. Faculty are encouraged to hold Village programs that tie into their course material. Students are encouraged to take course subjects and materials that interest them and expand on them through Village programs.
Here are just a few of the themes being explored in the Villages this year:
- Brazil (campus LaCultura theme)
- Science and Ethics (topic of special Village seminar)
- Podcasting and other topics related to music and technology
- Issues of cultural and social diversity
Anything else YOU are interested in. Every Village member chooses an interest group at the beginning of each term and works with those with common interests to develop ideas and programming.
OK, I'm sold. How do I apply?
