The Pennsylvania Department of Education has granted Early Childhood with the highest levels of approval for programs of its kind. Most notable is the “initial approval with special designation” given to the Early Childhood Education program, distinguishing it as a model program with innovative practices.

Teacher candidates wishing to teach preschool and early elementary grades (through fourth grade) choose this educational track.
Classes focus on:

  • pedagogy, assessment, and management of students;
  • subject matter content (including reading, writing, math, social studies, science and fine arts) for Pre K-4 students;
  • childhood development and familial interactions.
