Discover Visual and Performing Arts at Pitt-Greensburg

NEWS! 2012 VAPA graduate (2012) Elliot Sheedy is the second author on an article in the peer-reviewed journal, Metaverse Creativity. This publication, entitled, "Building a Virtual Reality Model of Artaud's Theatre of Cruelty," is the direct result of Elliot's work as a Green Scholar with Dr. Stephen Schrum, Theatre Arts faculty member. They also made two presentations on their work at the annual Association for Theatre in Higher Education international conferences, in Chicago (2011) and  Washington, DC (2012).

Recent VAPA graduate (2012) Amy Metz just started a Master's in Art History program at West Virgina University.  Amy received a full assistantship and will be working as a grading assistant this year.

Elaine Galinskie Fisher (Theatre concentration 2009) has enrolled in the Pittsburgh Filmmakers' Photography Certificate program.

Elliot Sheedy, VAPA graduate (Theatre concentration): “I love being in the I.A. program. I feel like I've learned more in these two years than most others and progressed as a human and artist exponentially. I dare say that I found out what an artist is here."

Claire Secen: VAPA major (Music concentration): "I started out in Business, and then added IA as a second major after taking Dr. Schrum’s Theatre classes. It just seemed like the best idea to do both... It's easily the best choice I've made this year."

Amy Metz: VAPA major (History of Art & Architecture concentration): "The importance of the VAPA major really became clear to me during my capstone project.  The capstone project gives you a chance to combine all of your art knowledge to create an even greater understanding of your concentration area.  Art history to me is not only studying the art itself but the culture around the art as well.  Studying music and theatre with visual art gave me a better understanding of the visual art I was studying.  The VAPA major is a unique opportunity to make connections in the arts!"
