Theatre Arts

Students interested in Theatre may choose to pursue a minor either to supplement the work in their majors or to fulfill the requirements for a related Students in the Advanced Acting class, using masks, create physical versions of famous paintings, both realistic and abstract.area within their majors. The minor in Theatre requires that students complete five courses for a total of 15 credits in addition to any THEA courses chosen to fulfill the requirements under General Education.

Requirements for Minor

Complete two required classes:

THEA 0100 Basic Stagecraft
THEA 0104 Basic Acting

Complete one of the following courses:

THEA 0805 Introduction to Theater Arts, Part I
THEA 0806 Introduction to Theater Arts, Part II

Complete two additional THEA courses.  Each course for the Theatre minor must be completed with a grade of C- or better.

In the Pitt-Greensburg Theatre Arts program, we pride ourselves on introducing new plays and new perspectives to our audiences. From less well known works to classic favorites, we strive for excellence in everything we present and continually showcase the creative and collaborative work that we do in the Theatre Company on a regular basis.

Students can be involved in Theatre Arts at Pitt-Greensburg by taking courses  (both theoretical and practical), by acting or working backstage on theatre productions, and by joining student organizations: the Performing Arts Society and Delta Psi Omega (DPO), the national theatre honors society.

Most Theatre events are in the Ferguson Theater on the Pitt-Greensburg campus, unless otherwise noted.

    Every semester: THEA 0100 Basic Stagecraft, THEA 0103 Theatre Practicum, and THEA 0104 Basic Acting.
    THEA Every Fall semester: THEA 0805 Intro to Theatre Part 1
    Every Spring semester: THEA 0806 Intro to Theatre Part 2
    Fall 2014: Drama to Film
