Parents and guardians are important partners in the pursuit of a college degree. There are many things that you, the parent or guardian, can do to help make your student’s college experience more enjoyable and successful. You should think of yourself as your son or daughter’s biggest cheerleader!
If you have already been through the college process with another son or daughter, you are aware that going off to college is a very important time in a student’s life. If this is the first time you’ve walked through the process, you should know that his or her life will change drastically and oftentimes, yours will as well. You may find yourself constantly thinking about your son or daughter and how s/he is doing academically, socially, and physically. You may even become anxiety-ridden from time-to-time.
Please know that we in the Office of Housing & Residence Life are fully invested in supporting and challenging your student on a day-to-day basis. We provide the facilities and tools necessary for your student to have a comfortable stay on campus.
We have put together a few tips that you may want to consider as a parent. Together, we can help assure that your student enjoys his/her time at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg.
