GREENSBURG, PA- University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg junior Andy Cornell (Pittsburgh, PA/Baldwin) was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Pitcher of the Week for his efforts ending on April 8th, 2012.  Cornell was honored as the pitcher of the week back on March 19th, 2012 and is the only pitcher to be honored with the weekly award twice this season.

Cornell picked up two of the Bobcats' four wins this week on the hill in back to back days. He threw 2.0 innings of scoreless relief in Pitt-Greensburg’s 9-8 walk off win over Penn State Altoona and followed that performance up with a complete game 4-3 victory over La Roche. In nine innings of work this week Cornell allowed just three runs, all unearned, while opposing hitters hit just .273 against him.

The lefty leads the team in appearances with nine and sports a perfect 3-0 record with a 3.33 ERA.  Cornell has struck out nine and walked just seven in 24.1 innings worked after throwing just three innings all of last season.

Pitt-Greensburg returns to action when they host AMCC foe Mt. Aloysius College on Wednesday, April 11th, 2012.  First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
