Softball suffers two tough defeats at La Roche
Pittsburgh, PA- The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg softball team dropped a pair of contests, 15-1 and 10-5 Wednesday afternoon at La Roche College. The Lady Bobcats fall to 4-14 overall and 0-4 in the AMCC.
After picking up only three hits in the opener in mercy rule shortened 15-1 loss UPG bounced back to pound out 10 hits in game number two. Pitt-Greensburg led 3-2 after 4.5 innings of play but things slipped away as La Roche scored four runs in both the fifth and sixth innings.
Melissa Strittmatter (Irwin, PA/Penn Trafford) paced the offense with three RBIs on the afternoon. Nicole Linsenbigler (Jeannette, PA/Jeannette), Jennifer Dempsey (Pittsburgh, PA/Keystone Oaks) and Michelle Love (Pittsburgh, PA/Moon) all picked up three hits apiece in the nightcap.
Pitt-Greensburg will look to bounce back when they host Penn State Altoona, Thursday afternoon at 3:00 PM at Mutual Field.
