Baseball opens 2012 campaign with split vs Gwynedd Mercy

Auburndale, FL- The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg baseball team opened the 2012 season with a split with Gwynedd Mercy College Saturday afternoon.  Gwynedd Mercy took game one of the twin bill 16-6 but the Bobcats bounced back, taking game two 14-4.

In the nightcap UGP wasted little time getting on the board.  The first seven batters in Pitt-Greensburg’s half of the first inning all reached base and scored.  The Bobcats pounded out five hits in the inning, four of which went for extra bases.

Baseball picked 7th in AMCC Preseason Coaches Poll

GREENSBURG, PA- The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg baseball team was selected seventh in the 2012 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Preseason Coach’s Poll.  Penn State Behrend was voted the preseason favorite by the AMCC coaches followed by La Roche College and defending champion Penn State Altoona.
