Photography Policy & Exclusion Form

University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg Photography Policy (effective July 1, 2016)

The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg (Pitt-Greensburg) uses photography, photographic images, names, audio recordings, and video recordings of employees, students, alumni, parents, and campus visitors for general publicity in publications, public relations, promotions, publicity, and advertising. Any person (or the parents or guardians of such persons, if under age 18) who do NOT want to be photographed or recorded, or to have their names, voices, or biographical materials used in connection with any such recording, must complete a Photo Exclusion Form and return it to the Office of University Relations and Institutional Advancement (URIA).

Please click here to access the electronic form

It is your responsibility to complete the form indicating your desire to withhold permission. Please note that submission of the form will cover any subsequent use of one’s image after the submission date.

Unless a fully executed Photo Exclusion Form is on file, your image and/or likeness may at any time be captured on campus by still photography, videography, or other photographic or electronic means. Pitt-Greensburg reserves the right to use any such image, photograph, video, or the like for any college-related purpose, including but not limited to promoting, publicizing and/or advertising on behalf of the college in print publications, on the Internet, or in other media such as signage and/or presentations both now and in the future. Also, your presence at off-campus college-sponsored events, constitutes your consent to the capture and/or use of your image and/or voice by Pitt-Greensburg, and waives any claims or rights, whether in law or in equity.

Any persons who do NOT want to be photographed or recorded, and who submit a completed Photo Exclusion Form, are responsible for removing themselves from the area in which photographing/recording is occurring, or politely notifying the camera operator of their Photo Exclusion status. Failure to do so may result in the person’s inclusion in a photograph or recording; it will be deemed equivalent to a release, and will allow the college to use that photograph or recording as it chooses.

Questions about this policy may be directed to the Director of Media Relations at pgnews@pitt.edu or 724-836-7741.

For additional information related to photography on campus, please see the University of Pittsburgh Anti-Harassment Policy Statement (Appendix F of the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg Student Handbook).
