Celebrating President Sharon Smith

During the twelve years that Sharon P. Smith, PhD, has led the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, she has challenged us to broaden our collective vision of our mission. She nurtured an environment that embraced new ideas and creativity.

Implementing a process that allowed faculty to apply for and receive course releases had a profound impact on the development of new programs and research. Course releases allowed faculty to take on special projects that have transformed the learning environment, the student experience, and our academic programs.

There is not enough space to showcase the accomplishments, progress, accolades, and growth that occurred under President Smith's leadership. It would be impossible to attempt to provide attribution for the innumerable contributions made by faculty, staff, students, and the community that brought these transformations to fruition.

It is through this collaborative effort, coupled with a love of education and dedication to the campus, that President Smith led Pitt-Greensburg through a challenging time of change in the arena of higher education.

And for this, we celebrate President Smith!
