Pre-Law Group at Pitt-Greensburg

While there is no formal pre-law major there is a pre-law group of faculty, staff, and students here atĀ Pitt-Greensburg from several programs including Political Science, History, Psychology, Sociology, Management, Career Services, and Criminal Justice. The goal is to prepare students interested in going on to law school through concerted faculty/staff-to-student advising, relevant course enrollment and planning, preparation for the Law School Admissions Tests (LSATs), the law school application process, and the expectations of rigorous law school programs.

Political Science, History, Public Policy, Criminal Justice, Sociology, and other social sciences are among the most common majors of students seeking entry to law school. However, law schools also look for candidates with a diversity of academic experiences including Philosophy, Biological Sciences, Management, English, Sciences, Humanities, and beyond. Pitt-Greensburg offers numerous courses related to the American legal and judicial systems, constitutional law, business law, civil liberties, political process, public policy, accounting, forensic and legal psychology, and other aspects of the field of law.

Pitt-GreensburgĀ has had a strong success rate of placing students into law schools. We have placed students at the law schools of Duquesne University, the University of Pittsburgh, Wayne State University, Ohio Northern University, American University, and many others.

If you are interested in following a career in law or going on to law school, I invite you to join the Pre-Law Group here at Pitt Greensburg. The pre-law advisor and coordinator, along with faculty and staff from many programs, Career Services, and other departments, are here to advise you on the best practices of students wishing to go onto careers in law and on to law school. We are here to provide advice on law school admissions and practices, the LSAT (Law School Admissions Tests) exams, and opportunities for you to better prepare for the rigors of law school application, admissions, and matriculation. Please send an e-mail if you are interested in our group and our activities.
