Updated: Oct. 13, 2021
What: Onsite Quest testing is available on the Greensburg campus.
Where: 106 Lynch Hall, Human Resources Office
When: 10am - 2pm, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, beginning Wednesday, October 20, 2021.
Who: Asymptomatic students, faculty and staff.
No symptomatic testing will be offered. Students, if you have symptoms, you must go to your local MedExpress or pharmacy that offers COVID-19 tests. Faculty and staff must contact MyHealth @ Work by phone at 1-888-499-6885 if you have symptoms.
All Pitt affiliates are welcome to use this testing site. This includes people in any exposure category and people who are trying to get back in compliance with mandatory weekly virus testing. However, to remain consistently compliant throughout the term, individuals required to have a test reported between Monday-Saturday every week are still instructed to order Quest kits to their personal address, a week ahead of time.
Why: Tests taken on days 3-5 following a potential COVID-19 exposure are likely to be the most accurate. Because the ideal testing timeline and work or class schedules may not always align, it may be easiest for some people with a confirmed or suspected COVID-19 exposure to order and take their test right on campus.
How: This is an unobserved, self-swab test. Scheduling a visit requires two steps:
1. Order an onsite test (not an at-home test). If you do not have a Quest account, you'll be asked to create one as part of the test ordering process:
2. Come to the onsite testing center. Hours are 10am - 2pm Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Onsite testing happens at Lynch Hall, Human Resources Office.
Testing kits will be available at the testing center. Quest will pick up samples every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Walk-ins are accepted, but we encourage you to register in advance.
Vaccines are still available at all local pharmacies including:
- Rite Aid
- Giant Eagle
Onsite testing can help close contacts get tested within an appropriate time frame. Current turnaround time for COVID-19 test results is 24-48 hours from when Quest receives a sample.
If you are an unvaccinated close contact, you should be quarantining while waiting for your test results. Someone in quarantine stays in their home, place of residence or other designated facility since it is possible to be contagious, even before someone develops symptoms.
Remember that testing is a useful tool for identifying asymptomatic positive cases. Testing can also create a dangerous false sense of security. A negative test is not a clearance to change your behavior or stop mitigating.
