February Residents of the Month announced

Pitt-Greensburg's Office of Residence Life has announced the February Residents of the Month.

The Community Assistants (CAs) from each residential area select the Residents of the Month. When selecting the Residents of the Month, CAs are asked to consider the department's three main learning goals: community, engagement, and respect.

The program showcases residents who have been a positive influence the community, have become engaged on campus, and show respect to their fellow residents and the residence halls. The CAs are asked to select residents that who demonstrated a commitment to these goals.

Congratulations to the February Residents of the Month:

Obodai Annan  Robertshaw Hall

“Obie” is very outgoing within Robertshaw Hall; coming to almost all the CA programs and even volunteering to help set up or clean up from any events. His enthusiasm is infectious and he has been helpful with inspiring some of his peers to be more involved. He is frequently among the first to offer feedback to the staff and has been very conscientious of others.

Jackie Drazdzinski – Franklin House

“Jackie has been a freshman resident who stands out to me in my house,” says her CA. She makes it to nearly all house programs with such enthusiasm and excitement. She also is always seen around campus with a bright smile and friendly personality!

Katie Giovannini – Mead House

According to her CA, ““Katie is really outgoing and always has a positive attitude. She comes to every program in the house. And she is very studious and dedicated to her academics.”

Faith Greenfield – University Court

Faith was been attending programs in the UC community and has been an overall “sweet and really kind” person, according to staff members. Our staff said she is often helpful to them at programs and even helpful to other residents academically.

Kyle Harper – Westmoreland Hall

Kyle is a very active member of our campus community. He was a peer leader this summer, he is involved in Village Senate and Phi Eta Sigma, and he has even published his own children’s book. Additionally, this month Kyle has taken the lead in organizing Pitt Fight on campus, a wrestling match that will be donating its proceeds to Connor’s Cure. He has also been an active member of our hall community and co-planned a Movie Trivia program with his CA to kick off the spring semester.

Josh Hoeth – College Hall

Josh was chosen as one of College Hall’s Residents of the Month due to his friendly personality to all residents of the hall. Josh also is very active in the hall coming to many of the CA’s programs and helps to make the residents feel welcome by simply talking to them.

Elizabeth Jackson  Robertshaw Hall

Elizabeth has been more outgoing and visible around campus this semester and has been really helpful with programs and events within Robertshaw Hall. Elizabeth is friendly and always conscientious of others. She is pursuing academic achievement as well as balancing more student involvement within the hall.

Ezekiel Najim – Selene House

Zeke’s CA says, “He comes to as many programs as he can despite his busy schedule and is always so kind when he comes. He always has a goofy joke of the day and never has a problem communicating any questions he has. He’s been working to improve his GPA since his freshman year and the amount of dedication he has put to get where he is currently is a beautiful display of academic influence within the community.”

Derian Quarles – University Court

According to the UC staff, Derian has been attending programs recently and has been so friendly to those around him. They describe Derian as “easy to talk to, friendly, accountable, and reliable.”  They also noted that Derian recently pursued (and received) a Community Assistant position for next year.

Samantha Reyes – Marshall House

Sam’s CA had this to say: “Sam comes to almost all programs despite being relatively busy. She is active in clubs and goes out of her way to always say hello and be a positive person to everyone.”

 

Abdiel Rodriguez-Polanco – College Hall

Abdiel was chosen as College Hall’s Resident of the Month due to his efforts to talk to everyone in the hall. Also, Abdiel has a large presence in the hall, coming to many of the CAs' programs and getting to know people by simply hanging out in the lobby area.

Cameron Seigfreid – Westmoreland Hall

Cameron has consistently been recognized for his achievement on the basketball court this semester. Recently, he was selected Third Team All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference. Cam has been a strong offensive players as the team’s top scorer. The Westmoreland Hall CAs appreciate his positive and friendly attitude in the hall and would like to congratulate him for his achievements! 

Miranda Smith – Athena House

Miranda co-planned a Sea Salt Bath Scrub program with her CA and was really helpful during the program itself. She is really involved on campus and recently became President of Chorale. She is also always incredibly friendly to other residents, according to her CA.

Sydney Toth – Apollo House

Sydney is a regular at programs within her house. She has been active this year in clubs such as Tri Beta and SGA, having leadership roles in both. Most importantly, she remains a positive force within the house, even when things aren't going well for her, which acts as an excellent example for others in our community.
