January Residents of the Month

Pitt-Greensburg's Office of Residence Life has announced the January Residents of the Month.

The Community Assistants (CAs) from each residential area select the Residents of the Month. When selecting the Residents of the Month, CAs are asked to consider the department's three main learning goals: community, engagement, and respect.

The program showcases residents who have been a positive influence the community, have become engaged on campus, and show respect to their fellow residents and the residence halls. The CAs are asked to select residents that who demonstrated a commitment to these goals.

Congratulations to the January Residents of the Month:

Hannah Grove – College Hall

Hannah was chosen as one of the Residents of the Month due to her overall involvement within College Hall. Not only has she helped to plan and implement many CA programs, but she also attends many of them and is a positive community member in the residence hall.

Karyn Holden – University Court

According to the UC staff, Karyn stood out this month in a variety of ways. She is a regular visitor on duty nights and at CA programs, and was instrumental in the success of the UC Relay for Life fundraiser in January. She has shown a lot of school spirit, attending basketball games and other campus events, as well.

Greg Maleckar—Robertshaw Hall

Greg has had a strong presence in Robertshaw as a returning resident and has really stepped up and set an example for other students to be more social by inviting people to the Game Room to play ping pong and watching Penguins hockey games. Greg attends a lot of CA programs, performs well academically, and represents Robertshaw Hall well.

Colleen Murphy – Athena House

Colleen is on the basketball and softball teams and partakes in a number of other activities on campus, all while maintaining good grades. She is always incredibly friendly and attends just about every .one of her CA’s house programs.

Kassi Niver – Westmoreland Hall

Kassi is involved in many organizations on campus such as Psi Chi, Pi Gamma Mu, and Criminal Justice Club. She is also a student athlete and is on the volleyball team. This semester, Kassi has been stepping out of her comfort zone to be more involved on campus and with the campus community. She brings her positive attitude with her in everything that she does.

Annabelle Philippe – Selene House

Annabelle is always a positive influence on her house community. She is a pleasure to have around and is focused on her academics, often studying within the community. She also attends Residence Life programs and makes jokes to help make everyone feel comfortable.

Jeffrey Phillips – Apollo House

Jeff has been a positive influence in the house since returning from Winter Recess. He has helped others within the building by giving them advice, and he has been supportive of other residents in general. Additionally, has assisted his CA with the bulletin board, flyers, and hanging reminder signs in the house.

Kathleen Price – Marshall House

According to her CA, Kathleen has gone out of her way to include other residents at house programs. She is always cheerful, respectful and ready to be involved. In fact, she has been very involved on the Relay for Life planning committee in recent week.

Arianna Seger – Westmoreland Hall

Arianna has been a huge help to her CA and has co-planned programs and helped with decorating the hallway. She has a lot on her plate between her job, school, and her student teaching/field placement, but manages it all so well and had a strong academic semester in the fall. The CAs are excited to see Arianna continue trying new things and reaching new goals.

Haley Stonebraker – Franklin House

Haley has been to all of her CA’s programs and continues to bring her positivity to the house. Says her CA, “Haley is always open to helping out despite having a full schedule.” She is respectful and engages with others in the house.

Hunter Sullivan—Robertshaw Hall

Despite moving to campus mid-year due to her study abroad experience in Australia and not knowing everyone in the hall, Hunter has been a very active member of the hall and more than willing to lend a hand with programs and fun activities as she tries to get to know everyone. Her assistance with the Pancake Relay fundraiser helped to make the program a huge success.

Maggie Titus – Mead House

Maggie is an active member in the hall and always has a positive attitude. She also recently helped her CA plan a program and has shown interest in becoming a Community Assistant.

Demi Wardzinski – University Court

Demi has been very engaged in the UC community this month, assisting with the successful, campuswide Relay for Life fundraiser and attending CA programs. She has spent a considerable amount of time with the CAs during their duty nights and has been much more involved and engaging with others in recent weeks.

Antony Zheng – College Hall

Due to being very active within College Hall, Antony was chosen as one of the Residents of the Month. He has helped plan and implement CA programs and is almost always seen around the building. The CA’s in College Hall say that Antony helps to make College Hall be more outgoing and have a friendly atmosphere.
