January Residents of the Month announced

Pitt-Greensburg's Office of Residence Life has announced the January 2020 Residents of the Month.

The Community Assistants (CAs) from each residential area select the Residents of the Month. When selecting the Residents of the Month, CAs are asked to consider the department's three main learning goals: community, engagement, and respect.

The program showcases residents who have been a positive influence the community, have become engaged on campus, and show respect to their fellow residents and the residence halls. The CAs are asked to select residents who have demonstrated a commitment to these goals.

Congratulations to the January Residents of the Month:

January Residents of the Month

Amelia Braggs – Westmoreland Hall

Amelia was chosen as one of Westmoreland Hall’s Residents of the Month for her welcoming presence in the hall. She has a great attitude, attends a lot of the CA’s programs, and is involved with intramurals as well.

Tori Butler – Marshall House

Tori’s CA says that she’s been “not only a great roommate, but also a great resident.” She brings a sense of community to the house, often talking to other residents in a conversational way. Additionally, she has helped with a number of her CA’s programs and even co-planned one recently.

Esther Camick- College Hall

Esther is always present in the hall, and is always open to talking to anyone. She also looks for different opportunities to help out others in the halls, including the CAs. She can always be found attending different programs in the hall as well as campus events.

Emma Halutick – Selene House

According to her CA, Emma is positive and active on campus. She can always be found attending different campus events, as well as her CA’s programs. While at these programs, she is always engaging with other residents in the house.

Ben Kitch – University Court

In January, Ben took on greater leadership roles, not only helping to co-plan a program but even applying to be a Community Assistant. Ben co-planned a ‘90s Night program with his CA and was super helpful with the staff’s recent Relay for Life fundraiser. He is often socializing with others in the Rec Room and attends campus and hall events.

 

Wyatt Keller – College Hall

In January, Wyatt was very present in the hall. He is inclusive and open to talking to anyone. He also recently co-planned a program with a CA, and seems to thoroughly enjoy being a part of the College Hall community.

Marissa Leonard – Apollo House

Marissa’s CA says she is very friendly and nice to everyone in her house. She is active on campus and can always be found talking to someone. She has recently helped her CA develop some program ideas and she’s always willing to help.

Rebecca Marinelli – Westmoreland Hall

Rebecca was chosen as one of Westmoreland Hall’s Residents of the Month for her engaging presence within the hall. She comes to many programs and is always willing to lend a helping hand around the hall. Rebecca also is an active member and officer of Westmo’s living community, OACS (Outdoor Adventure and Community Service).

Oanh Nguyen – Athena House

Oanh’s CA says she is easy to talk to and very friendly. During January, Oanh went above and beyond as a member of the Athena community by being involved in her CA’s program-planning, among other things. She has remained academically-focused and is very organized.

Kamryn Pusateri – Mead House

Kamryn is a freshman biology student who is involved with Science Club and hopes to be a peer leader or CA in the future. She has been attending all of her new CA’s programs and is involved in her community.

Robert Ross- Robertshaw Hall

Robert Ross recently joined the Robertshaw Community for the Spring Semester but had already established himself as a leader in the community. Robert can often be seen participating in events in Robertshaw and his visible social presence has brought new positive energy to the community. Robert has also branched out on campus by joining and supporting the recently created Japanese Culture and Anime Club here at UPG.

Laila Smith – Franklin House

According to Laila’s CA, she has been active and attending many Academic Village events this semester. She was also particularly helpful with her CA’s first program, a DIY Soap activity.

Kelci Sopko- Robertshaw Hall

Kelci is very active in Robertshaw Hall and is a constant ray of sunshine whenever passing anyone. She is really helpful when helping the CA’s of Robertshaw plan programs. She is also respectful to everyone and is a part of the history club.

Kierin Sullivan – University Court

Kierin has been a very active member of the University Court (UC) community. She has been active in Diversity Student Coalition (DSC) and the Student Nurses’ Association (SNA) and was recently accepted to go on the Habitat for Humanity alternative spring break trip. She regularly attends programs in the UC, and always has a smile on her face.
