October Residents of the Month

Pitt-Greensburg's Office of Residence Life has announced the October Residents of the Month.

The Community Assistants (CAs) from each residential area select the Residents of the Month. When selecting the Residents of the Month, CAs are asked to consider the department's three main learning goals: community, engagement, and respect.

The program showcases residents who have been a positive influence in the community, have become engaged on campus, and show respect to their fellow residents and the residence halls. The CAs are asked to select residents who demonstrated a commitment to these goals.

Congratulations to the October Residents of the Month:

Abbie Albright – College Hall
Abbie was selected because she always is willing to ask for help when needed. She also is very involved on-campus, serving as a peer leader and a member of the Resident Student Council executive board. Abbie was selected because of her willingness and openness to talk to residents in the hall.
Madison Coddington – Selene House
Madison is super engaging with the Selene House community, according to her CA. She brought a lot of popcorn to a recent hall meeting. She is a great role model for other residents; she’s always peppy and smiling and doesn’t let stress affect her mood. And she is a student athlete who participates in CA events and shows constant kindness to others even when tired from practice.
Joe Fitz – Westmoreland Hall
Joe is very present in the campus community. He is involved in the Performing Arts Society, Delta Psi Omega (the performing arts honors society), and Nerd Fighters. Most recognizably, Joe was involved in the creation of Pitt-Greensburg’s new a cappella group, Distinct Voices, which has been a year and a half in the making. The CAs recognize Joe’s ambition and his openness.
Matt Grayo– Westmoreland Hall
If you go to any event on campus, you are bound to see Matt Grayo at it. He is the Vice President of SAB, on the e-board for Resident Student Council, the Vice President of DSC and he works at the coffeehouse. In October, Matt planned a successful Halloween Bingo program with SAB. He deserves to be recognized for his involvement on campus and his dedication to this community.
AJ Jadot – Apollo House
AJ was selected because he has been very involved on campus this month. He is the Senate vice president for the Student Government Association; active in the Criminal Justice Club, and was the Homecoming King. His CA says he is always friendly and approachable, and he always attends programs in the house and has a blast while doing so.
Marissa Leonard – College Hall
Marissa was selected because she is constantly helping the CAs plan programs. She also attends many of the CA programs and events and activities held on-campus. Marissa also is a member of the volleyball team, showing her involvement outside of College Hall. Ultimately, Marissa helps to make College Hall a welcoming place for other residents.
Arura Norcini – University Court
Arura frequently attended CA programs and various activities during Blue & Gold Week. Although she has an off-campus job, she remains engaged and involved on campus. She is quiet, but is known to be cracking jokes and smiling all the time. Her CAs say that she’s a sweetheart to everyone.
Samantha Pisarcik – Franklin House
Samantha has become more active on campus and in the Academic Village community. In Franklin House, she has made huge contributions to many programs as she has helped her CA come up with ideas as well as prep for, set up, and clean up. Her CA says that she’s very friendly and helpful within the hall.

Olivia Senay – Athena House
Olivia is the Resident of the Month of her house because she has been co-planning a program with her CA and has shown an increase in involvement on campus, particularly with the school newspaper. Her CA says that Olivia is a “positive, friendly person that gets along with people well."
Damon Smigielski – Mead House
According to Damon’s CA,  he has been an active member in the hall by contributing ideas for programs and even co-planning one with his CA. He's been reaching outside his comfort zone to meet new people and try new things.
Sierra Wagner – Marshall House
Sierra’s CA noted that she’s involved in many clubs. In fact, she was even named Member of the Month in the OACS club. Sierra is always doing homework or studying with other students on campus. She recently expressed an interest in wanting to help me co-plan an upcoming program and also shown interest in becoming a CA.
Mark Reed - Robertshaw Hall
Mark was selected because he has made a great effort to be more social in Robertshaw Hall this year, as compared to his freshman year. Mark frequently sits with the CAs on duty and helps them to plan out details for events. Mark will start a conversation with anyone he meets and treats everyone with the utmost respect.

Danielle Swilley - Robertshaw Hall
Danielle was selected because she has helped to co-plan several programs with the CAs in Robertshaw Hall this semester, has taken executive leadership positions in several clubs on campus including Outdoor Adventure and Community Service and Science Club, and the staff recommended Danielle as someone who makes an effort to talk to other students and help them find resources they need on campus.
