Parents and Families Information

Where to start?

  1. Do your research.  Try using College Board or other search engines like Princeton Review or Peterson's to find the campus that fits best for the student.  You can also visit college fairs in your area and let your child know that admissions counselors will be visitng their high school(s).  Make sure they are asking their guidance counselor what college will be visiting the school; meeting an admissions counselor at a high school visit or college fair is a great way to start the college search.
  2. Learn more about admissions requirements as well as majors, minors and certificates. Pitt-Greensburg offers 29 four-year degree majors, 19 minors, 5 certificates and numerous relocation programs.
  3. Visit the campus!  It is important for students to visit schools to make sure their decision is a good fit for them.  Their choice will be there "home" for the next four years.  It is also important for families to feel at ease with their child  away from home.  Pitt-Greensburg offers numerous information sessions and visits.
  4. Once the familiy has visited and has narrowed down their choices, they are ready to start the application process. Pitt-Greensburg allows students to apply online or by requesting a paper application by calling, 724-836-9880.
