Kayla Heffernan, PhD

Kayla Heffernan, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Mathematics. She received her doctorate in Mathematics and Science Education from Temple University and has a master’s in Applied Mathematics. She teaches all levels of mathematics courses at Pitt-Greensburg, with a special interest in the mathematics for education students. Her research interests center on mathematics identity and guided-inquiry based learning. She has recently worked with The POGIL Project and has been writing and publishing textbooks for mathematics that follow the POGIL teaching method.
