Kelly Neubauer, DNP, RN, is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh Greensburg Campus. She earned her Associate degree in nursing in 2005 from Westmoreland Community College. Later earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2014, and her Master of Science and Nursing in 2015, both from Carlow University. She graduated with a Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Carlow University in May 2020, with a focus on Empathy training in the emergency department. Kelly began her nursing career at Excela Health Westmoreland hospital in 2005 on a medical-surgical unit, later transferring to a telemetry unit in 2006. She worked on the telemetry unit until 2011, when she followed her passion for emergency medicine and transferred to the emergency department. She has held various positions within the emergency department including professional staff nurse, clinical nurse coordinator, Clinical Director, and Director of Nursing. She also has worked as a nurse navigator in the Heart Failure Clinician in Home Care and Hospice as the Director of Palliative Home Care & Hospice. She has taught at various locations including, the University of Pittsburgh Greensburg campus, Penn State Fayette campus, Carlow University, Colorado Technical University and Westmoreland County Community College. In 2015, Kelly was the recipient of the Daisy award. She has a passion for promoting positive culture and creating an environment of compassion and caring. Kelly is a member of the Westmoreland County Human trafficking task force and assists in providing education in the community and within her organization. She is also a member of the Angels of Westmoreland Honor Guard. She aspires to teach caring, accountability, respect, and empathy not only in the world of nursing, but to everyone she meets.
