Lynch Drive Status Update

Pitt-Greensburg students participate in efforts to end violence against women and girls

The Gay-Straight Alliance at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg will present Eve Ensler's award-winning play, "The Vagina Monologues," February 22, February 23, and February 24, in the Mary Lou Campana Chapel and Lecture Center. Curtain times are 7:30 p.m. (February 22 and February 23) and noon (February 24). Admission is $8 for the general public and $5 for students with identification. Read more >

Joan Chambers Concert Series presents Elizabeth Tomlin, solo pianist

The Joan Chambers Concert Series at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg will present a solo piano recital by Elizabeth Tomlin on Friday, February 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the Mary Lou Campana Chapel and Lecture Center. This event is open to the public at no charge. Elizabeth Tomlin is an active piano soloist, chamber musician and new music advocate. A recent performance of the Schumann “Piano Concerto” received high praise, John Lambert of “Classical Voice of North Carolina” declaring it “so good, indeed, that I’d urge anyone to go out of their way to hear Tomlin again.” Read more >

Housing Applications available February 14

Housing applications will be available to all returning students on Valentine's Day, February 14. The housing deposit of $150 and the student’s application must be submitted between February 14 and March 2. Students who don't apply between those dates are not guaranteed housing for the 2012-2013 school year. New, incoming, and transfer students will not be able to submit a housing application until April 2nd. Read more >

The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg recognized members of its staff with various awards during its annual holiday and staff recognition luncheon held recently. Sheila E. Confer, Academic Village coordinator and MAP-Works coordinator, was the recipient of the President’s Distinguished Service Award for Staff. Read more >

February 4 - Pharmacology Update Series for Nurses: Heart Failure

8:30 a.m.; Millstein Library (Rm. 250): The Center for Professional Growth at Pitt-Greensburg, in collaboration with the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, presents “Heart Failure” as part of the 2011-2012 Pharmacology Update Series. Presented by teleconference, the session runs until 11:30 a.m. and, nurses earn three CNE contact hours. Registration is $60 per session and may be done online at www.greensburg.pitt.edu/about/cpg. February 7 - Soul Food Dinner

7 p.m.; Hempfield Room (Chambers Hall): The President's Committee on Diversity and the Diversity Student Coalition will host a Soul Food Dinner as part of their activities planned for Black History Month. Sponsored in part by the Student Government Association, this event is open only to the Pitt-Greensburg community, but an RSVP is required by February 3. During this solo recital, Tomlin will perform works by Scarlatti, Beethoven, Chopin, and Debussy. This event is free and open to the public.

Feb. 22-Feb. 24 - "The Vagina Monologues"

Mary Lou Campana Chapel and Lecture Center: The Gay-Straight Alliance at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg will present Eve Ensler's award-winning play, "The Vagina Monologues," February 22, February 23, and February 24. Curtain times are 7:30 p.m. (February 22 and February 23) and noon (February 24). Admission is $8 for the general public and $5 for students with identification. This is the sixth year that Pitt-Greensburg students have initiated, produced, directed, and performed the play, which is staged to raise awareness and funds for local organizations working to end violence against women and girls and to support the V-Day movement.
