Alumnus of Distinction awardThe Pitt-Greensburg Alumni Association (PGAA) is accepting nominations through July 8 for its three annual awards. The awards, Alumnus of Distinction, Volunteer Excellence, and Young Alumni Leadership, recognize Pitt-Greensburg alumni for their professional accomplishments, service to their communities, and commitment to the University.

Awardees will be asked to attend the Alumni Celebration Dinner during the campus’s Blue & Gold Celebration, usually in October. Details and nomination forms (self-nominations are accepted) for each award may be accessed here: https://www.greensburg.pitt.edu/alumni/awards

A brief description of each award is included here:

The PGAA Alumnus of Distinction award, established in 2001, is the highest honor given by the PGAA to an individual alumnus(a) annually. All candidates must have graduated from or completed courses at Pitt-Greensburg. Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of their outstanding level of professional achievement, service to the community, service to the University of Pittsburgh, any special recognition or honors, and other special efforts or success. The honoree will also be asked to serve as the Alumni Marshall during Commencement activities in April of the same academic year.

The PGAA Volunteer Excellence Award was established in 2009 to recognize alumni who volunteer their time to the PGAA and the University. When designating an alumnus or alumna as a particular year’s Volunteer of Excellence, his or her award certificate indicates that they have been designated as such, “for outstanding service to the Alumni Association and the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg.” This PGAA award honors alumni who have dedicated a significant amount of personal time to attending alumni meetings and events, working on special projects, and contributing to the overall success of both the alumni association and the University it represents.

The PGAA Young Alumni Leadership Award, initiated in 2015, recognizes established and future leaders among Pitt-Greensburg’s young alumni. The Young Alumni Leadership Award was created to recognize and honor Pitt-Greensburg young alumni, ages 35 and under, for their accomplishments and service. The winners of the award have distinguished themselves as a leader among their peers and in their profession, community, and/or the University.
